Director’s Message

Welcome to the Western Regional Training Centre for Health Services Research (WRTC).

Sam ShepsThis training program is offered at six universities in western Canada. Apart from stipends, students benefit greatly from opportunities funded by the WRTC such as attending workshops and institutes, along with attendance at the annual conference of the Canadian Association of Health Services Policy and Research.

Students can access an increasing complement of graduate level courses in health services and policy research concepts and methods.  Practical field placements with health care decision-makers provide unparalleled exposure to senior-level management and policy expertise, and the potential for job opportunities following program completion.

The WRTC is also the Western Regional Mentoring Centre for the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation (CHSRF) Executive Training for Research Application (EXTRA) Program. This provides students with enhanced access to health care decision-makers from across western Canada.

We encourage you to review the information on this site and to contact us at wrtc-hsr@ubc.ca if you have any questions or require further information.

We look forward to hearing from you.
