Fall Institute and Workshops

All WRTC students are required to attend the annual Fall Institute. This training activity is rotated amongst the six university sites, and is generally scheduled on a weekend in mid to late October. The Institute is organised around a relevant and timely theme. Past Institutes have, for instance, focused on themes such as

  • research and policy making
  • health research and social research
  • challenges of applied research
  • gender/diversity and health
  • knowledge transfer and the use of data

Travel costs are fully paid by the WRTC. Students are encouraged to free their weekend schedule to attend the Institute as soon as the dates are announced.

At some Institutes workshops in statistical methods (particularly software applications) have been made available to interested students. These generally have involved an extra day, either a Friday or a Monday preceding/following the Institute.
